Happy Christmas

So Polly and I have been trawling Google Images for suitable pictures to put in our Happy Christmas post.  There were so many we liked, we have decided to include the top three.

Number 1 tells you what this post is about.

Number 2 is in honour of Bunny (http://talesandtails.com/santa-doesnt-know-hes-missing/ )who has been writing to Santa to let him know just how fast Greyhounds can go.  So far he's not responded, so Bunny thinks Rudolph is intercepting the letters:)

Number 3 is simply because it made me smile:)

Polly and I hope you all have the best Christmas ever.  Be happy, be safe and as always remember to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 17th December, 2014

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

No crafting this week, but what I do have on my desk is this cute Christmas Stocking and cheese dog biscuits my friend gave to Polly.  I've hung it above her bed, but have taken the biscuits out, as that would have been too tempting:) LOL

Happy WOYWW.

Sues RAK Group

In November, 2012 I set up a new eBay group called Sue’s RAK Group.  This is a group for people who would like to spread a little random act of kindness.  Once a month all those that want to take part can put their name down.  You will then be given the details of the person who you should send a card and if you wish a small gift to.  Ideally the gift and card should be homemade, but no problem if they aren't.  The gift shouldn't cost to make or buy more than a couple of pounds.  You can do this anonymously or put your details in the card.  The group site will also be a place for members to chat about anything they like.

If you’d like to join you can do so by going onto eBay and clicking on the Community button (over on the right at the top) and then clicking Groups. Then just put Sue's RAK Group into the search bar, or let me have your eBay ID and I can invite you.

It doesn't matter where you live, as this group is open to everyone.  The only thing you have to do is let me have your eBay ID, your email and your postal address.  Also need your birthday, but day and month only, you don't have to tell us your age:)  Members addresses and emails are not put up onto the group site, but added to the members List and emailed out to members.

The group is a 'Closed' group, so only members can read it.

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

Here's a card I made for a Swap.  The theme was Christmas with ribbon and a die cut.  I don't have much Christmas stash, as I rarely make Christmas cards.  For this swap I had to look through all my scraps and this is what I came up with.  The tag is actually a tag for a present.

Hope you all have a lovely WOYWW.

I have these birthday cards on my desk.  The first two were made using Toppers I received in a swap.

This one was made using the flower which I got in a pack in The Range.

This one was from a kit.

I hope you all have a lovely WOYWW.

Well I have finally had to admit Christmas is fast approaching, hence the change of music to Michael Buble versions of Christmas songs.

Hope you enjoy listening to them whilst visiting my blog.

On my desk I have some cards in the blue basket, which you have already seen.  Some Toppers I received in a swap waiting to be made into cards and some packets of Toppers I got in The Range recently.  They were 5 packs for £1 and with six Toppers in each bag that's a real bargain:)

I hope you all have a happy WOYWW.

Not much going on here.  No crafting as just so busy due to recent events.

I did receive this lovely bookmark and beautiful bird as a swap.  The bright colours cheered me up.

Happy WOYWW.

My Dear Dad

Very suddenly my dear dad passed away on Tuesday morning (7th October, 2014).  Whilst he turned 88 on 21st September this year, he did very well for his age.  He still drove, went round the supermarket to get his shopping and pottered in his garden, which was the thing he loved most.

This is a photo of dad in his Navy uniform.  He was one handsome young man.

My mum and dad on their wedding day 19th August, 1950.  They were married for just over of 63 years, before my mum passed away 31st October, 2013 after battling Dementia for over 7 years.  They are together again now.

A photo taken earlier this year.

I will miss you every day, but I have you always in my heart.

WOYWW 8th October

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

I have three cards to show you, all for swaps.

This first one had to be distressed in some way, so I chose tearing the three backing papers.  The little embellishment is a ewe and the wording says Hello Ewe!

This swap had the them Funny Christmas.  I used a topper I got in a swap.  The eyes move:)  I used two backing papers and some Washi tape.

This card's theme was Friendship.  I used two backing papers and then stamped out the sentiment.  I also smudged the edge of the text card with ink.

Well I hope you all have a lovely WOYWW.

Saturday, 4 October 2014

This is a Begonia I bought last week.  It's a lovely yellow/orange colour, but the photo doesn't show it at it's best.

Polly being a hussy.

Polly being more of a tart.

I can't possibly put up the photo of Polly being a trollop:) LOL

I hope you are all having a nice weekend.  Remember to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 1st October

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

I only have one card today.  I have made more, but they are for birthdays and don't want to put them up till the birthdays are over.

This is another card I made using the freebies from the magazine.  The bow and pins were from my stash.

I hope you have a happy WOYWW.

Sunday, 28 September 2014

Polly and I hope you are all enjoying a nice weekend.  We are in an Indian Summer, with temps higher than average for this time of year.  So far today it's overcast, but hoping it will brighten up.

Polly and I had a nice walk along the cliffs earlier.  She's had her breakfast, so soon this will be her:)

Well you all take care and don't forget to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 24th September

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

Well I have just two cards this week.  I made both using freebies from Papercraft Essentials magazine, Issue 109.  I usually only buy a crafting magazine if the freebies are worth it:)

The pink and blue pins are from my own stash.

The blue and green pins are again from my stash.

I hope you all have a lovely WOYWW.

Sunday, 21 September 2014

I hope you have had a nice relaxing weekend.  It's not been very nice here, with heavy damp mist, cool winds and even heavy rain today.  Dad's happy, as the garden needed it.

This is what Polly thinks to it all.  First she layed one way, then she switched ends:)

I got Polly a new house collar for her 2nd Gotcha Day.  She's now sporting this little red number:)

Hope you all have a good week.

Don't forget to hug your hound/s.

WOYWW 17th September

Here is my WOYWW (What's On Your Workbench Wednesday).  If you want to know more about this weekly event, take a look at Julia's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk

On my desk I have this card I made for a swap where the theme was Time.  The black sheet of paper went through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  I then coloured the numbers, etc with a gold pen and wrote the quote using the same pen.

These are four Toppers for a swap where the theme was Autumn Colours.  I used a little leaf stamp on the card and then added the top card.

This card is for a swap where the theme was Butterflies or Dragonflies.

I hope everyone has a happy WOYWW.

Monday, 15 September 2014

Well someone is celebrating her 2nd Gotcha Day today.

When I lost Song so suddenly, I didn't think another dog would ever heal my heart, but I was wrong.

I leave you with:

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or "that's a lot of money for just a dog."
They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent,
or the costs involved for "just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by
"just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch
of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship,
trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience
that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look
longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog"
but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts
away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that its' not "just a dog"
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being.

Sunday, 14 September 2014

We have sunshine, blue skies and a warm breeze.  Seems that summer is hanging on by the fingernails, but autumn is definitely banging at the door.

I came across these photos from earlier in the summer in dad's garden, that I don't think I've put up before.

A lovely male Pheasant.

Peacock Butterfly on the Buddleia, also called a Butterfly Bush.

A bit closer shot.

Two Doves tucking in to the seed on the bid table.

I think this caterpillar turns into a large Moth.  The photo doesn't show just how colourful it was.  It had a fair bit of pink on it's back.

This is what it will grow into.

Starlings getting bugs of some kind out of the grass.

Well I hope you are having a lovely weekend and the week ahead is a good one for you.
